Ten New Companies Join EBDN
On January 15, 2026, the Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD), through the Ethiopian Business and Disability Network (EBDN) and with financial support from Light for the World under the “WE CAN WORK” program, successfully conducted a Disability Inclusive Awareness Training (DIAT). The training brought together Human Resource Managers and Senior Managers from various employer organizations, with the aim of enhancing their knowledge and strengthening their commitment to disability‑inclusive workplace practices.
The training conducted in Addis Ababa brought together 27 participants from governmental, development, and private sector organizations. The session was designed to strengthen employers’ understanding of disability‑inclusive workplace practices, equipping them with the knowledge and strategies needed to foster accessible, equitable, and supportive working environments for persons with disabilities.
The training primarily focused on disability‑inclusive policies, reasonable accommodation, workplace accessibility, and inclusive recruitment and retention strategies. It provided a valuable platform for dialogue, experience sharing, and collective learning on how businesses can actively promote the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the workforce.
A significant outcome of the training was the formal enrollment of around 10 companies into the EBDN. In addition, several organizations expressed commitments to cascade the training within their institutions, adopt disability‑inclusive policies, and improve the accessibility of their services. These commitments demonstrate a growing willingness among employers to take concrete steps toward building more inclusive and accessible workplaces, thereby contributing to broader disability inclusion efforts in Ethiopia
