
SIX YOUTH BEGIN 3- MONTH INTERNSHIP
The Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD), through the Ethiopian Business and Disability Network (EBDN) and with financial support from Light for the World under the “WE CAN WORK” program, has successfully placed six youth with disabilities (three females, and three males) for a three‑month internship program with selected development and private sector organizations.
Prior to their placement, the interns participated in a comprehensive job‑readiness training facilitated “WE CAN WORK” program. This training equipped them with essential employability and workplace skills, preparing them to adapt effectively to professional environments and contribute meaningfully to their host organizations.
The internship linkage process was carried out between December 1 and 15, 2025, following a careful matching of each intern’s educational background, skills, and interests with the specific needs of the hosting organizations. The internships will continue until March 15, 2026, subject on the interns starting dates.
This commitment not only provides practical work experience for young persons with disabilities but also strengthens employer engagement in disability inclusion, demonstrating the value of creating accessible and equitable opportunities in the labor market.
